For medium-voltage applications
Cold shrink technology
Cold-shrink technology for medium voltage
In addition to the hybrid heat shrink and cold push-on solutions, BBC Cellpack Electrical Products now also offers “all-in-one” cold shrink sleeves. This comprehensive product range for medium voltage applications gives our customers the flexibility to choose the most suitable product for their application.
The cold shrink joints are made from highly elastic liquid silicone rubber (LSR), which offers excellent insulation and high flexibility. The use of silicone rubber offers many advantages, such as constant radial pressure on the contact surface, high tear resistance, good hydrophobic properties as well as chemically inert and flame-retardant properties.
The products have been type-tested according to the latest CENELEC HD 629.1 S3:2019 standard, which guarantees a reliable conductor connection, adequate field control and excellent insulation to ensure operational safety and high network reliability.
CCMSV joints are suitable for 1-conductor plastic cables (XLPE, EPR & HEPR). They enable the connection of cables with different cross-sections and conductor materials, even with different cable designs in terms of conductor layer (peelable or strippable) and shield design (copper wire or tape shield). Screw connectors covering a wide range of cross-sections are included in the scope of delivery. Installation is safe, quick and easy

EXTERNAL PROTECTION
The outer protection is pre-stretched and pre-installed over the socket insulation body.
It is made of silicone rubber, which has good mechanical and chemical properties.
The outer tubes together with the adhesive mastic provide an excellent seal and prevent water ingress during operation.
- Good hydrophobic properties have a water-repellent effect
- Resistant to chemical solvents, fuels, oils, etc.)
- Flame retardant during combustion, vapors are non-toxic
- Better performance in extreme weather conditions than other polymers (UV stabilized, corrosion protection, etc.)
SHIELD TRANSFER
The cable shield transfer is achieved by a copper mesh hose (pre-installed over the joint insulator),
around the joint area and connected to the wire and/or tape shield by means of rolling springs.
These rolling springs provide the necessary contact and reliable electrical continuity between the cable shield and the copper braided sleeve.
- Solderless electrical connection of metal cable components
- For all cables with copper tape or wire screen
- No tools required for shield transfer
SCREW CONNECTORS
The screw connectors enable a perfect fit in the CCMSV sleeves.
These connectors are made of a tin-plated aluminum alloy and are suitable for various conductor materials (aluminum / copper) and shapes (RE, RM, SE, SM).
- The preset torque ensures gentle shearing of the bolts during tightening
- Defined contact grooves with internal and offset bolt arrangement ensure ideal conductor clamping
- Beveled and rounded ends ensure simplified, damage-free insertion of the joint body
- Pre-installed centering inserts with easily removable option
FIELD CONTROL
The special shape of the joint insulator implements the principle of geometric field control,
whereby the electric field at the cable ends is controlled (conductive layer end).
The inner conductive layer of the joint insulator forms a Faraday cage in the connector area,
which ensures field control and therefore makes the use of additional components superfluous.
INSULATING BODY
The insulating body is made of high-performance silicone rubber and is factory-foamed onto a spiral-shaped retaining system,
which provides an appropriate diameter for easy positioning over cables and connectors.
This one-piece insulator provides field control,
insulation and shielding for rebuilding the cable structure.
Silicone rubber with its amazing electrical and mechanical properties offers
- high dielectric strength
- large cross-sectional area (thanks to the high elasticity of silicone)
- excellent sealing properties (hydrophobic)
